We’ve all been down that road where we envy other girls’ beautiful nails and you are left wondering – How does she do it? While some of us are just not blessed with beautiful nails (thanks to genetics…uuhhh!!), others are just habitual nail bitters. But whatever may be your reason, we’ve got a quick fix for you to get the nails you absolutely desire. Presenting the *drum roll* Gelatin Nail Strengthener.

Now before we go any further, there is one thing you should know. Like all things beauty related, this too will take some time. So be consistent with your efforts and they will surely pay off with the gorgeous nails you have always wanted. This DIY technique includes two things from your kitchen

  1. One cup water
  2. One tablespoon Gelatin

If you do not have gelatine at home, no worries because it’s available at almost any grocery store.
Now getting down to the real business!

Step 1:
Put the water in a sauce pan and begin heating it. Alongside, put the gelatine a separate glass bowl and wait for the water to come to a boil.

Step 2
Once the water begins boiling, pour it into the glass bowl and stir to dissolve. The mixture will dissolve to make a watery mixture which is just slightly yellow in colour. Allow the mixture to cool down a little, so that it’s still warm but will not burn you.

Step 3:
Pour out a part of the mixture into a separate bowl, just enough so that you can dip 5 finger tips into the bowl. Keep your finger tips dipped in the mixture and let it soak for 2 minutes. Repeat the process with your other fingers

Step 4:
Once you are done, wash and dry your hands. You can use a hand cream too to keep some moisture locked in.

Voila! That’s all you have you do. The great part about this DIY project is that if you have any unused gelatine mixture left, you can put it into an air tight container and just keep it in the fridge for about 2 months! Of course, as gelatine tends to do, it will firm up quickly in the fridge, so the next time you want to pamper your nails, just scoop out the amount you need and put it in the microwave for a few second. It will melt quickly and will be ready for you to use again.

Repeat this process, 2-3 times in a week and wait for some amazing results. You can also use clear nail polish, which has nail strengthener in it, to get stronger and happy shiny nails.

Try out this DIY gelatine nail strengthener and get those instagram worthy nails you are always stalking. For nails like that, we’re sure this 5 minute job a few times a week is totally worth it. Wouldn’t you agree?
